OSX on OQO
by Hax0r on Apr.29, 2008, under Misc

It appears that a hacker has installed MAX OSX Leopard on his OQO device. OQO is the manufacturer of subnotebook, handheld computers named the OQO model 02 and OQO model e2. The systems are much like a tablet PC, but much smaller.
Apple has had a host of issues from hackers and imitation computer systems. Their operating system, MAC OS X, is intended and licensed to run on Apple hardware only.

Ubuntu 8.04, XFCE, EVE, its slick.
by The Uni-Hacker on Apr.28, 2008, under Gaming

Xubuntu, the XFCE version of Ubuntu is very slick, easy to use, and uses little resources on your computer. I think I found the Ubuntu flavor that can really use. Being an old slackware guy, I decided I didn’t want to compile everything from source. Back in my hardcore days I built custom Slackware distro’s just for my specific hardware, kernel and all. Today, I am older, and I just want to be a user, so I chose Ubuntu ( Xubuntu ) as my desktop Linux.
The installation of the new Xubuntu 8.04 went smooth and everything works just fine. By default, Xubuntu comes with all sorts of wallpapers and window decorations to allow for a fully customized look of your desktop. Looks, is everything for me! :-) (continue reading…)
How to grief in EVE Online
by Hax0r on Apr.27, 2008, under Gaming

EVE Online is one of the only games that you can truly grief in. Just being a pirate doesn’t make you a grief master, but it can be part of it. Griefing in EVE means more than just blowing up ships. I would define as total chaos to a specified target. I must warn you, being a total griefer will most likely make you KOS ( kill on site ) to almost everyone in the game.
First you have to choose a target, and keep in mind that you don’t need a reason. Your going to grief someone just because you want to, and because you can. I usually use the recruiting channel to find good, weak corporations to target.
Once you find a target, scout out their system, find out where they hang out. Then declare war on their corporation. You’ll probably get an EVE mail from the CEO asking why. Tell them, because you felt like it. Some CEO’s will ask what they can do to drop the war, tell them nothing. (continue reading…)
Homeland Security website, IIS Victim
by Hax0r on Apr.27, 2008, under Security

The Department of Homeland Security’s website has fallen victim to the IIS SQL injection hack that has been spreading like wild fire across the Internet. This shows that even high profile sites such as banks and governments are subject to security breaches. The Department of Homeland Security is just one of many hundreds of thousands of sites cracked by the vulnerability in Microsoft’s IIS.
Bank of Israel website hacked
by Hax0r on Apr.27, 2008, under Security
The Bank of Israel has pulled down its website after hackers posted messages on its home page announcing the victory of Muslims over Jews, a media report said. ”Listen to me Jews - you are a nation whose fate has been decreed and sooner or later you will lose the war,” was the message left by Algerian hackers, ‘The Jerusalem Post’ reported.
”The victory will come Inshallah. The Chechnya scenario will be repeated and we will kick you out,” it said adding, ”Millions of young Muslims are ready to die for the sake of Al-Quds that belongs to us” (the Arabic name for Jerusalem).
Looks like another Windows Server got jacked up, but we don’t know for sure, just assuming here. The Bank of Israel website hack comes just after 500,000+ windows IIS websites got hacked.
Blog Commenting Tool, Simple Comments
by Hax0r on Apr.26, 2008, under Misc

Simple Comments is a tool that makes blog commenting much easier. No, it’s not a comment spamming tool, as it uses Askimet to prevent spammers from using the tool maliciously. Basically if you’re a legit blogger you’ll actually benefit from using this tool. You can auto-comments on blogs or manually comment on blogs, it’s up to you. The tool pulls blog articles based on your keyword from various sources such as technorati, google blog search and ice rocket.
It’s a windows based program, but we might make a Linux version here soon now that we got a handle on the GTK# Gui Builder for Linux. In fact, a Linux version is in the plans. Heck, we might just make this open source and let someone else do it. :-)
The tool wills store blog permalinks that you already comment on to prevent duplicate comment posting. Simple Comments also supports multiple blogs and blog types.
