Zimbabwe government paper hacked.

by Hax0r on May.12, 2008, under Security

The website www.herald.co.zw remained hacked from Saturday to Sunday evening for more than 24 hours after a hacker calling himself r4b00f, probably angry over its blatant bias, broke in and changed the wording on the home page to “Gukurahundi.”

“Gukurahundi”(Shona: “the early rain which washes away the chaff before the spring rains”) was an ethnic cleansing operation started in October 1980 Robert Mugabe, then Prime Minister, signed an agreement with North Korean President Kim Il Sung to have the North Korean military train a brigade for the Zimbabwean army. by zimbabwemetro.com

The website was running IIS, Microsoft’s web hosting server package, known for getting hacked on a daily basis. Recently more than 500,000 IIS web servers were hacked by a Microsoft glitch. The hackers could have used this same SQL injection glitch but with so many problems with IIS it’s hard to tell which exploit was used.
