Funcom, Bankrupt From Age Of Conan?
by The Uni-Hacker on Aug.15, 2008, under Gaming
I’ve read a number for articles about Funcom’s “successfull” video game “Age of Conan”. Over 700′000 subscriptions during the first few months and now some are estimating that less than 50,000 are currently subscribed. The stock of Funcom has dropped from $54 to $21, the investors can’t be all that happy.
Funcom is allegedly charging people for extra months even after canceling their subscriptions. We’ll find out as I have recently been banned for “Excessive PVP” on a PVP server. My subscriptions are now canceled, so we’ll see.
If you bought the retail boxed version of the game you’ll notice the DirectX 10 and Siege warefare as being a feature but these features don’t exist.
Below is an in depth article about Age of Conan as it is now, you do the math. Is it even worth playing anymore?

If you get a perm ban you will be require to pay the subscription period you are in (whichever plan you are in). That is the facts and all MMO companies do this. Funcom is not the wrong if you violated the TOS. Which I am guessing you did.
Is the game going under is a harder question to answer. My person feeling is yes in the games current state.

No, it’s called a reverse credit card charge. Funcom is fraud, no DirectX 10 as it says on the retails box.

I guess they have little money since they are stealing mine. I am a father of a former Conan player and I can see of my bankaccount that funcom yesterday the 28th of october, has charged me 22.10 EUR 35,97 FUNCOM GMBH . Well I once gave him a 3 months subscription and I did pay for it by Visa. Ok I guess that period is over now. My son hasn\’t been playing Conan for a long while now and I belive him when he says that he hasn\’t used the visacard that is registrated in funcoms site. So I guess funcom take my money without asking.
Helpless

Funcom is still charging people even after they cancel their accounts. Roy isn’t the first person, nor the last person Funcom will steal money from.

I canceled one of my accounts myself and wasn’t charged after that. I don’t know where you get this idea of Funcom stealing money, that would be retarded on their part and ruin their reputation.
